OpenMV ranging extension board can measure the distance of obstacles in front, 4 meters range, 1 mm accuracy.
The ranging extension board uses a T0F ranging chip, which measures the distance by measuring the "time of flight", or the time that light is emitted back to the chip.
Compared to measuring and transmitting ultrasonic waves, the field of view of TOF ranging is very narrow and more accurate.
Compared to measuring reflected infrared light, TOF is more accurate in distance measurement, and measuring the intensity of infrared light cannot judge whether it is close or far.
